"I don't back up, I stack up."

We generally race in Chicago at ARLINGTON PARK in the summer, in Lexington, Kentucky at KEENELAND, fall and spring, and the winter at FAIR GROUNDS RACE COURSE in New Orleans. I'm interested in developing promising young horses, so please contact me if you want the best possible start for your racing prospect. If you're interested in partnerships, claiming or buying a young horse, please contact me to discuss your goals. Call me at 224-323-1139.

In 2013 I started working privately for a client to help him cultivate a racehorse quality hay crop on his Illinois farm. This hay is a orchard grass/clover/alfalfa mix that I feed my horses when we're in Illinois. This hay is 100% organic and is an ideal mix for racehorses.

Congratulations to The John G. Hillebrand Family on the maiden victory by HAWK'S GIRL at Arlington Park, August 6, 2011. Arlington Park reported:

HAWK'S GIRL FLIES TO FAMILY VICTORY WITH TRUE TEAM EFFORT

While Arlington Park's International Festival of Racing this Saturday remains the focus of the 2011 Chicago Thoroughbred racing season, other scenarios are playing out on the stage of life as we know it.

One of those occurred last Saturday when John Hillebrand's Hawk's Girl won the eighth race of the afternoon while ridden by Jermaine Bridgmohan.

Hillebrand, a longtime Illinois owner and breeder, was still in the hospital for Saturday's race after receiving a kidney transplant the previous Tuesday. The kidney donor was Hillebrand's daughter Angela Hillebrand Suwanski.

Angela Suwanski is the wife of jockey agent Jon Suwanski, who books the mounts of Hawk's Girl's winning rider Bridgmohan.

Jere Smith, Jr., son of Arlington's late third-leading all-time trainer J. R. Smith Sr., serves as the conditioner of Hawk's Girl, and John Hillebrand IV was on hand at Arlington for the winner's circle ceremonies on behalf of his father.

Jere trained the four thoroughbreds featured in the slide show below before he retired them from racing, and we are thrilled that they all found success in new careers.

Senor Sancho, show name "Medici", is one of Jere's most successful racetrack retirees! He started training for eventing in 2004, and eventually ended up with upper level rider Elissa Estes (Gibbs). In June 2011 the pair completed the Bromont CCI*** event to qualify for the Rolex Three Day Event, the only four star event in the Americas, to be held in April 2012 at the Kentucky Horse Park! Here's a video of "Medici" at a 2009 event >>

Retired thoroughbred racehorses often make excellent eventing prospects. Eventing is an Olympic sport that requires many years of training to reach that level, and most horses at that level are 10-15 years old. Aspiring Olympic level riders are extremely supportive of the racing industry's thoroughbred retirement programs as adopters of the "sound but slow" runners.
